Shingles Raises Stroke Risk: Study - US News and World Report

The first study to link shingles specifically with stroke which can be ischemic, caused by blood clot blocking a brain artery, or hemorrhage, doe to rupture of a blood vessel.

It was found that stroke results from herpes zoster virus-induced vasculopathy (
the vessel to the brain damaged by the the virus could be occluded or ruptured).
